Independent Scottish investigative journalism

Evidence before narrative.

SÙIL ALBA investigates matters of public interest across Scotland. We separate verified fact from allegation, publish our methodology, seek meaningful right of reply, and correct the record when evidence changes.

Launch phase: the newsroom infrastructure is live while investigations are being evidence-locked and prepared for publication.

Investigations in development

We will not publish a serious allegation simply because it is circulating online. These lines of inquiry remain subject to evidence review, legal risk assessment and right of reply.

How we work

Accountability starts with our own methods.

Evidence-led

Primary records are preferred. Material allegations require defensible corroboration, provenance and context.

Fact ≠ allegation

Claims, inference, analysis and established fact are kept distinct. Social-media identification is not treated as proof.

Right of reply

People and institutions facing serious criticism are given a meaningful opportunity to respond before publication wherever practicable.

Corrections

Material corrections are made visibly. Updates should not quietly erase the history of a significant factual change.
